Telop
Tonight's weather, the way Japanese TV showed it in 1984.
A broadcast you can carry
Late at night, Japanese stations closed with a few minutes of weather: a hand-drawn map, keyed type, a sponsor card, then the day's baseball scores typed out one column at a time. Telop rebuilds that segment from real broadcast footage, down to the station's own symbols, type and timing, then runs it through a simulated analog signal and VHS tape so it looks the way a recording from that night looks today.
The picture is 1984. The data is today's. Telop fills its cards with the current forecast, temperatures, satellite and radar imagery and, on the North American reels, tonight's major-league scores. When a source can't be reached, that card plays its original 1984 picture.

Where the data comes from
Forecasts and observations come from public weather services, including Open-Meteo, the Japan Meteorological Agency, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the US National Weather Service, RainViewer and NASA GIBS satellite imagery. Baseball scores come from the MLB Stats API. Telop is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of these providers, any broadcaster, or any sports league.
