Privacy Policy

Effective

The short version: Telop doesn't collect personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. If you allow it, each time Telop opens it checks your approximate location, on your phone, to pick the nearest city, and never saves it or sends it anywhere.

This policy covers the Telop app and this website, heygravy.com, both run by Gravy Consulting Inc. ("Gravy", "we", "us"), a company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

What Telop collects

Nothing that identifies you. Telop has no sign-in and no user accounts. It does not use advertising or analytics software, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not ask for access to your contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

Your location

Telop shows the weather for one of eight cities, and opens on the one nearest you. To find it, Telop asks iOS for your approximate location, a general area rather than your precise position. Telop never asks for precise location. Each time Telop opens, your phone compares it with the eight cities, picks the closest, and then discards it. Your location is never stored, never sent to us or to anyone else, and never included in any request the app makes.

Location is optional. If you don't allow it, Telop picks a city from your phone's time zone instead. You can change your choice at any time in the Settings app under Telop.

What stays on your device

Telop remembers your language choice so it opens the way you left it. It's kept in the app's own storage on your device (and in your device backups, like any app's settings), is removed when you delete the app, and is never sent to us.

How Telop gets weather and scores

To fill its cards, Telop downloads forecasts, observations, warnings, imagery and baseball scores directly from public data providers, including Open-Meteo, the Japan Meteorological Agency, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the US National Weather Service, RainViewer, NASA and the MLB Stats API. These requests ask for data about the city being shown, using that city's fixed coordinates, not yours. They don't contain your name or any account details, but like any internet request they reveal your device's IP address and identify the app to the provider. Those providers handle requests under their own privacy policies. Gravy does not run a server between you and them and does not see these requests.

Crash reports

If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. You control this in Settings on your iPhone.
